In 1889 railroad workers depended on Hamilton Carhartt clothing such as Carhartt bibs and coveralls to help them weather the harsh elements of working the American railroad. In 1917 G and L Clothing realized men needed a one stop shop for all their work clothing needs. G and L started by selling brands like Carhartt and Levi to Midwestern farmers, steel workers and more. When buying clothing, in 1917, it was very important that the clothing be not only high quality but also in stock. Men usually came into town once or twice a year to buy all their work clothing at one time. A good pair coveralls or work gloves where an investment that had to last a year or more and withstand the most difficult elements. To this day G and L Clothing remains committed to having top brand like Dickies, Carhartt and Levi in stock and in all sizes including men’s big and tall work clothing.
